Day 7 Pitch Perfect Review

WARNING: Contains spoilers

This charming film, full of fun mash ups of songs, stars Anna Kendrick as Beca, a freshman who dreams of being a DJ in LA. She joins the Barden Bellas, an all-female a capella group at Barden Univeristy, and their rivals are the Treblemakers, which I thought was a rather witty name.  I won’t go into the whole plot, but it does have a somewhat predictable plot ending: the girls end up winning and the guy gets the girl. Halfway through the film, I knew that the controlling leader of the Barden Bellas, Aubrey (Anna Camp), would become nicer. It also had the expected girl/boy storyline: girl meets boy (Jesse, played by Skylar Astin), girl becomes friends with boy, girl becomes distant from boy, girl makes up with boy and grabs him for a kiss, girl – say what? Grabs? Yes, the kiss could have been done a little more gently, but the ending was satisfactory.

Rating: 3/5

Favourite line: Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson): “I’m gonna finish him like cheesecake.”

Favourite scene: The riff off (if you want to know what I’m on about, go and watch the film :))
