Day 56 Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight begins this week!

Last year, Fairtrade Foundation asked us to take a step for Fairtrade. This year, they’re asking us to go further for Fairtrade. Without Fairtrade, farmers in developing countries wouldn’t be able to get a better deal for their products.

The very first Fairtrade product was Green & Black’s Maya Gold chocolate back in 1994, and has since expanded to include products made by Lush, and one of my personal favourites, Gruffalo bubble bath.

For this year’s campaign, Fairtrade are asking us to sign a petition for David Cameron to ask for a better deal for smallholder farmers at this year’s G8 meeting in summer. The petition isn’t just asking us to put our names down and be done with it. Fairtrade’s campaign involves us creating our own mini marcher to be included in a visual campaign on Parliament Square on 4 March 2013.

I’ve created mine, and it looks like the one above. 😀

Check out this video from Fairtrade Foundation, and to get involved in the campaign and design your own mini marcher, head to http://step.fairtrade.org.uk
