Day 257 Alex Seton’s Elegy on Resistance

How comfortable does this outfit look? I would happily slob around all weekend in these clothes.

Unfortunately, this isn’t real. It’s been carved out of marble (crazy, right?!) by Alex Seton, an artist from Sydney, Australia, as part of his ‘Elegy on Resistance’ exhibition back in 2012. This one, called Soloist, is my favourite. It’s so lifelike, and I can’t imagine how long it must have taken him to carve it out of marble (again: crazy, right?!). It’s faceless and ambiguous, yet somehow familiar. I guess it’s the peacefulness of it that makes me love it so much.
